Spring capsule wardrobe

Style It Saturdays, April 17, 2021

Hi! It’s time for Style it Saturdays, where I show you a round-up of outfits from the week before. As always, you can shop any of these looks through my commissionable links. Just click any of the photos, and you will be taken directly to the outfit on my LiketoKnow.it page.

First up I want to show you a spring capsule wardrobe. Just in case you aren’t familiar with what a capsule wardrobe is, it’s a wardrobe where you only use a few basic pieces for the entire season. Throughout the season you will mix and match them to create hundreds of possible outfits. Check out this one that I’ve created below. Layers are important in spring when daily temperatures can fluctuate drastically. These layers also make it possible to create quite a few different looks. Depending on which combinations you use, there are many dressy or casual styles that you can create with these pieces.

For this next look I have used classic black and white with a pop of color. A lot of businesses will allow their employees to wear denim as long as there are no rips. These white denim pants, combined with the black shirt, are great from going from work to dinner. It would also be a great date night look.

Memorial Day will be here in a few weeks, so I’m sharing an outfit that you can wear to your BBQ or picnic. This look can work for Fourth of July and casual weddings, too.

For this next look I put together a fun, flirty option for what you could wear to attend a summer wedding.

Today I am throwing in a look for the guys. Sometimes when it gets warm my husband and I want to go eat dinner on a restaurant patio. My husband want to look nice, but doesn’t want to spend the evening sweating. This is a great look that he’ll be wearing this summer.

Style it Saturdays April 10, 2021

It’s time for our weekly edition of Style it Saturdays, where I show you a round up of outfits from the week!

As always, you can find all of the commissionable links for these outfits on my LiketoKnow.it page. Something special happening this weekend is the LTK spring sale. Certain brands are offering special discounts to LTK shoppers, some of them will even let you stack the LTK coupon code on top of their other coupon codes this weekend.

With the exception of a couple of this week’s outfits, most of them are a little more on the casual side. This one below is one of my favorites this week. The stacking bangles and fun shoes give loads of personality to these comfy, basic pieces. Click HERE or on the picture to find these pieces.

This outfit below is what I like to call my “farmers market” outfit. Comfy, but still cute. And don’t forget the fun bag to put your farmers market purchases in. HERE is the outfit on LTK.

This outfit below is the perfect weekend outfit to run errands in! It’s also perfect to take along while travelling.

Here’s a cute outfit below to wear to a bbq or baseball game! This fun headband keep your hair looking cute, while the cross-body purse keeps your hands free.

Sometimes you just want to wear something basic, and that is this outfit! Your basic, but flattering, white tee with jeans and tennies. This is a great white tee because it is double layered…no see-through worries.

Okay, now for some outfits that are not quite as casual, but still ready for fun…This cute gingham dress has been really popular. I think it would look great with a belt at the waist to make it look a little more put together. The dress is a little on the shorter side, so size up if the hemline is a concern for you.

I personally really like this outfit for the times you want to wear a skirt or dress, but you know it is going to be hot outside. The double-layer tank is going to keep you covered, and the light cotton skirt is going to keep you cool.

This outfit below is one that is perfect for a summer wedding or graduation. The necklace lays really nicely with the neckline of the dress.

Style it Saturdays April 3, 2021

Welcome to the second edition of Style it Saturdays, where I show you a round-up of outfits from the week before. Spring has officially landed here in north Georgia, so these outfits are all about warm weather and sunny skies. Just a friendly reminder that you can find any of these pieces by clicking the photo to be taken to my LiketoKnow.it commissionable links. Never miss my latest outfits by following me there.

I’ve actually shown the dress below previously on my LiketoKnow.it, but I wanted to show you how I wear it belted. You’ll notice in a lot of dresses that I post that I add a belt as an accessory. Even if your waist is not as small as you’d like for it to be, adding a belt over a dress at your natural waist, just under your rib cage, will give it a slimming effect. For the affordable price, I am very impressed with the quality of this dress. I was a little worried that the fabric would be thin, but it isn’t. There’s a great flow-y movement to the bottom, and it has pockets!

This next outfit can work in so many situations. I would wear it to work, church, or lunch with friends. I recommend tucking the blouse in, because a defined waist is always more flattering even if you aren’t comfortable with your size.

Okay, y’all know I love to include a date night outfit! But I honestly think this could work for work, church, or lunch as well. This basic black outfit is elevated by the brown leather belt and shoes and the turquoise jewelry. The bandana can be worn as a scarf around your neck, tied to the belt, or in your hair. I love pairing black and brown together for a sophisticated, chic look. Not to mention, this black outfit can be the foundation for literally hundreds of outfits!

Okay, here’s a great travel outfit if you will be hitting the ground running once you get to your destination. After a long car or plane ride, a hat and sneakers are in order, but we still want to look cute and put together. This outfit checks all of those boxes!

Okay, can we talk about how this outfit screams, “I’m done with winter, give me sunshine!” I love throwing pops of fun color with black and white! And how cute are these earrings?!? Just cuff up the sleeves on this fun shirt and you are ready to go!

You can find any of these pieces by clicking the photo to shop this outfit on LiketoKnow.it

Leopard print will forever by my favorite neutral, and I love pairing it with army green. These pieces all look super cute together, but on their own they are wardrobe basics that can be mixed and matched into dozens of outfits. How many ways can we style them..the list is endless! And the accessories TOTALLY make this outfit look put together.

And the last look for this week…Are we ready for the park, errands, or lunch? Because this look can work for any of those! Red, black, and white are classic, and I love how this headband ties it all together.

Style It Saturdays March 27, 2021

Hi, Friends! I’d like to introduce you to a little programming change. 😉 You may remember that I did a series of blog posts last fall titled, Wear it Wednesdays. In an attempt to streamline my posts a little bit and organize them for you to find easier, I am planning to do just one weekly post instead. Style it Saturdays will be a round up where I feature all of the outfits from the week before. So today will be our very first weekly Style it Saturdays!

To begin, one of my favorite pieces in my own wardrobe is my chambray shirt dress. It’s a class wardrobe staple that won’t go out of style. In the photo below you can see some ways that I suggest styling a chambray dress. You could also style it wearing some leggings underneath it with ballet flats. The possibilities are endless. You can find all of the commissionable links for each of the pieces in the photo on my LiketoKnow.it. You can either click HERE or click on the photo to find them.

The next dress that I want to show you is one that I consider to be the perfect traveling dress. It travels very well in a suitcase and can be mixed and matched to create multiple outfits. In addition to the ways that I’ve suggested to style it below, you could also add a button-up shirt over it, tied in a knot at the waist. Click HERE or click on the picture for commissionable links.

The dress below is one that I think you could wear 3 seasons of the year. An army green field jacket over the top would allow you to wear it in spring or fall. Some leather knee boots would look great with it as well. Click on the photo below, or click HERE for commissionable links.

I want to show you how versatile the jeans are below. You can create a sporty look with the sneaker and tank, or you can create more of a flirty, boho look with the pieces on the right. Click HERE or click the photo below for links.

The outfit below is my favorite from this week. This dress is cut to perfectly flatter a woman’s figure. I love adding accessories in complementary colors, so this pop of orange works well here. It’s just a happy spring/summer outfit! Click HERE or click the photo below for the commissionable links.

Leather Pants Outfit Ideas

Did you see these vegan leather pants on my Valentine’s Date Night Outfit Ideas post? Today I want to show you three different ways you can style them. Below is the original outfit that I showed. You could even wear this to the office – maybe with a blazer, too!

What I love most about these vegan leather pants is that they are cut like a trouser. A lot of vegan leather pants I have seen in outfits lately are leggings. These take it up a notch and become appropriate for more situations. You can click on any picture in this post to go directly to my Like to Know.it where you can find commissionable links to every piece shown!

And here is how the outfit looks on me! This shirt is very flattering. It has little shoulder pads sewn in, and along with the cut of the fabric on the arms, it creates the most feminine little puff sleeve. And I can’t leave out these leopard pumps. Leopard is my favorite neutral! I don’t know what it is about this brand of shoes, but they fit my feet so well. The last time I checked there were only a few sizes left on the shoes. In fact, I had to try several times before I was able to get some in my online cart. But because I know the brand fits me so well, I kept trying! You can click HERE to find the commissionable links for this outfit. (I’m wearing a small in the shirt and a 4 in the pants. I’m 5’4 for length reference – these are 28″ inseam.)

Here’s another way to style these vegan leather pants! Don’t you love how the red just pops! Same brand of shoes that I love as the leopard ones above. This exact shirt is a few years old from H&M, but I have linked a similar one that would work perfectly, as well as the exact shoes and purse HERE.

Okay, this final look with the vegan leather pants is definitely reserved for date night! This shirt has a lacy, sweetheart neckline that is a little risqué for the office, but your honey would TOTALLY appreciate it on a night out. 😉 (I’m wearing a small in the shirt.) Find the links HERE.

Which one of these looks do you like best? I like them all – I’m trying to decide which one to wear on Valentine’s Day!

Pink Blazer Outfit ideas

Hi, friends!

As a follow up to my post last week with some outfit ideas for your Valentine’s Day, I want to show you several ways this adorable pink blazer can be styled. Below are the pieces as I put them together for a Valentine’s date, but this would work well for the office, too!

I’ve said multiple times that these are the most comfortable black pumps that I own. And the internet agrees too, because they’ve sold out multiple times. You can click on the picture above and it will take you to my Like to Know.it account where you can find the commissionable link to these shoes.

And here is what the outfit looks like on me. What I love most about this blazer is that it is cut and fitted to be flattering on women. The quality feels well-made, but it is less than $40. Don’t let the sizing reviews scare you. The store re-made the sizing. I went with my normal size Small, and it fits perfectly. Below are a few more outfit ideas with this same blazer.

Here is another way to style it that can work for both a date night and a day at the office – maybe on casual Friday since I’m wearing jeans. This is my favorite look with this blazer. All of the pieces I am wearing in this look can be found on my Like to Know. it commissionable links by either clicking on the picture, or by clicking HERE.

In this last look I am wearing a classic jean skirt with a white T. There aren’t many sizes left in the skirt, but if you are able to snag one I recommend sizing down one size. I went with a 26 instead of my normal 27. I love, love, LOVE this v-neck because it is not see-through. Does anyone else get tired of wearing 2 shirts because so many shirts are see-through? Click the picture or click HERE to find all of the pieces on my Like to Know.it.

So which look is your favorite? There are so many ways to style this blazer – it’s a must have!

Wear It Wednesday – Vintage Ralph Lauren Jean Skirt

I forgot to post my Wear It Wednesday outfit last week, so here it is! In a lot of my posts I feature vintage Ralph Lauren pieces. One reason that I love Ralph Lauren is because his clothes are usually classic and timeless. They are also usually made from quality materials such as real wool, cotton, and leather. I feel like I get a lot of value for my money whether I’m buying RL new or used. However, a word of caution: If it is truly a vintage Ralph Lauren piece, you’ve got to keep in mind that the sizing will be different. Beginning in the 1990s, many companies began to do what is called “vanity sizing.” That means that they made their bigger sized clothing labeled with smaller sizes. So, for vanity reasons, you’d want to buy a certain brand because you wore a smaller size in that brand. What that means for me is that while I wear a size 4 in almost all modern made clothing, in vintage Ralph Lauren I might wear a 6 or even an 8.

In this outfit I am wearing a vintage Ralph Lauren jean midi skirt. Here I’m pearing it with boots. It would look nice with flats or even sandals in the summer. My sweater is new from Old Navy. I am really into this ‘pecan” color this year. I sized up in my sweater because I knew I was going to layer it over other shirts. And my shirt I bought new from J. Crew, but about 6+ years ago. (If you follow me on Instagram you saw me buy one very similar lately while thrift shopping. it has some different colors in it, though, and it is made by GAP.)

If you want to save this for later, click on the Pinterest button at the bottom of this post.

Have a great day!

Wear It Wednesday – Cozy Thanksgiving Outfit

I have to say that my biggest source of inspiration for outfits continues to be Pinterest. If I happen to see a photo of an outfit I like, I’ll often look to see if I already have items in my closet that are similar to what my inspiration photo uses. I am not trying to copy the outfit exactly, instead I am really trying to use it for inspiration for items that I already have in my closet.

For example, below is my inspiration photo that I found on Pinterest. I found this on Pinterest, but it originally came from another blogger’s post here.

Not only is my outfit cute, but it’s sooo comfortable. Since I have used a lot of blazers in Wear It Wednesday photos recently (more to see on my Instagram account!), I decided to use a new sweater that I picked up. This sweater is soft on another level. It’s long, has pockets, and a hood. It’s cozy on the level of “Can I just live in this, please?”

Originally the sweater sold for $99, and I paid just $15 on the TJ Maxx clearance rack. I showed these Loft pants in another outfit recently, but I really like how they fit on me. I picked them up this summer from their website for just $10! The shirt is from Target, several years ago. The purse was a Christmas gift from Ken (Amazon) last year. I picked it out to be a travel bag, but Covid killed all my 2020 travel dreams. The belt is from Goodwill. I have no idea what brand it is, but it’s 100% leather, and that’s all I cared about. (Leather lasts forever.) The shoes were another clearance rack find at TJ Maxx. They’re leather, too, and they were also $15.

Total price for this outfit: $45

  • Sweater $15 (Originally $99)
  • Pants $10 (Loft clearance)
  • Shoes $15 (TJ Maxx clearance)
  • Belt $5 (thrift store)
  • Shirt, already owned, purchased 5+years ago from Target
  • Purse, Christmas gift last year

As you can see, my outfit is not a copy of my inspiration photo. It’s more of a “hey, I have something similar that would look well together.” I hope you find some inspiration today! Have a great Wear It Wednesday!

Pendleton Wool Camel Blazer – Wear it Wednesday

I’ve been trying to redecorate with our Thanksgiving decor, and with these dogs it’s like trying to get something done with two very nosey toddlers. I have to be careful where I set stuff down because they inspect everything!

I’m so glad that we’ve had more “fall” weather this year than we did last year. But in Georgia fall weather still means that we start off cool and heat up in the afternoon. That’s why I love layers so much! I bought this vintage Pendleton blazer online, and I’m always a little worried about the sleeve length when I order online. I’m 5’4″, and my arms are more on the petite length. But it fits perfectly, and I am very happy with it.

I hope you’re enjoying your fall clothes this year. Here’s what I’m wearing:

  • Pendleton blazer – vintage
  • Target white v-neck and leopard belt (current)
  • Pilcro and the letterpress jeans
  • Vionic shoes

Ralph Lauren Tweed Blazer – Wear It Wednesday

I wore a blazer on a date in high school. It’s kind of cringey thinking about it. I’m sure my date was not exactly like, “oooh, cute girl in a blazer.” But, for some reason I thought sharing that bit of embarassing information would explain that the dozen+ blazers in my closet could be justified if you knew I had a long-standing love of them.

Anywho, I love this Ralph Lauren Blazer. I’d wear it anywhere. Probably on a date with my husband. And it’s his birthday today, so “ooooh, cute wife in a blazer,” right babe?

  • jacket, Ralph Lauren, eBay
  • shirt, Ann Taylor, new
  • pants, Loft, new
  • shoes, Miz Mooz, Nordstrom Rack
