Winter Stovetop Potpourri

Fill your home with the warm scent of citrus, cinnamon, and spices with this easy winter stovetop potpourri.
Prep Time 5 minutes
Servings: 1 pot

Ingredients

  • 1 small orange or lemon, sliced
  • 1 cup fresh, raw cranberries
  • 1 Tbsp whole cloves
  • 2 sprigs fresh rosemary
  • 3 whole star anise pods, dried
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • water, enough to fill the saucepan approximately three-quarters full

Equipment

  • Large Saucepan

Method

  1. Slice the orange or lemon. Add it to a large saucepan along with the cranberries, cloves, rosemary, star anise, and cinnamon sticks.
  2. Add enough water to fill the saucepan approximately three-quarters full.
  3. Place the saucepan on a burner set to low. Allow the mixture to steam or gently simmer, filling your home with the scent of citrus and spices.
  4. Keep the potpourri below a boil. Add more water as needed, and do not allow the saucepan to run dry. Never leave it unattended.

Notes

Ingredient amounts are flexible, so you can adjust the citrus and spices to suit your preference. Star anise has a strong scent, so I recommend using no more than three pods.
This potpourri is intended to scent your home and is not for eating or drinking.
